Farwalk’s XHHW-2 wires are the high-performance alternative to standard PVC building wires. Utilizing thermoset Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, these wires offer superior heat resistance, lower dielectric loss, and exceptional durability in wet environments without the need for a Nylon jacket.
Manufactured in strict accordance with UL 44 and ASTM standards. The core features a plain annealed copper conductor (Class B stranded). The insulation is a specialized thermoset XLPE compound that provides a 90°C rating in both dry and wet locations. Unlike THHN, XHHW-2 does not utilize a Nylon jacket, relying instead on the inherent toughness of the XLPE skin.
The premier choice for electrical feeders and branch circuits in high-load industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings. Specifically preferred for installations in hospitals, data centers, and industrial plants where thermal stability and long-term moisture resistance are mission-critical.
• Voltage Rating: 600V
• Conductor: Bare Copper (Stranded)
• Insulation: XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene)
• Temp. Rating: 90°C Dry/Wet
• Standard: UL 44
1. Conductor: Annealed uncoated copper, Class B (stranded) per ASTM B8 or Class C per ASTM B33.
2. Insulation: Thermoset Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE), specifically optimized for moisture and heat resistance.
3. Identification: Surface printed with size, type, voltage, and manufacturer credentials.
• Thermoset Reliability: Unlike thermoplastic (PVC) wires, XLPE insulation is thermoset, meaning it will not melt or drip even under extreme overload or short-circuit temperatures up to 250°C.
• Superior Moisture Resistance: Optimized for ‘Wet’ locations at 90°C, XHHW-2 offers lower leakage current and higher insulation resistance than THHN in damp conduits.
• Friction-Reducing Slickness: Farwalk’s XHHW-2 is engineered with a high-slip insulation surface, eliminating the need for a separate Nylon jacket while maintaining easy pulling characteristics.
• UL 44 Standard Compliance: Every foot of our XHHW-2 wire is manufactured to exceed the rigorous physical and electrical requirements of UL 44.
• Extreme Environmental Resistance: Highly resistant to ozone, UV, and chemicals, making it the preferred choice for industrial facilities and water treatment plants.
• Optimized for Conduit Fill: Without the extra bulk of a Nylon jacket, our XHHW-2 provides a slightly smaller diameter for certain large gauges, potentially allowing for more conductors per conduit.
